Problem-solving Garden
An established terraced garden, lovingly created and cared for over the years, but made unwelcoming and boggy underfoot by the surface waters running down from the hill above, the craters left by the resident badger and the heavy rains - a real design challenge. The solution was to create a recycled plastic elliptical walkway over the wet ground, spaces to sit in sun and shade, a boulder-fringed ephemeral ‘river’, running wet or dry with the seasons, and planting to withstand both flood and drought.
